Mainland China invests 300 million yuan to expand Changshu factory and put into operation new electronic parking brake
Last week Continental Continental announced that it had completed the expansion of its Changshu plant in Jiangsu, China, which produces chassis and safety components.
Continental China President Ralf Cramer said that the total investment for this expansion is 36 million euros, or about 292 million yuan. After the expansion, the factory area was expanded by 7,600 square meters, and an electronic parking brake EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) production line was added; the total number of employees will increase to 2,250 people, and the annual output will increase by 30%.
The plant will supply electronic parking brakes to Chinese and Japanese OEMs in 2014. The electronic parking brake is used in conjunction with the electronic brake (ElectronicBrakeSystems) to play an auxiliary function, which can enhance the safety and handling of the car.
Continental set up a factory in Changshu in 2008 to produce hydraulic brake systems, especially front and rear calipers, brake drums and brake actuation products. Its main customers are Asian auto companies, and 45% of its products are exported to the Japanese and Korean markets. At present, the mainland has 19 factories and 9 R & D centers in China, with a total of 17,000 employees.
